Reflecting on a decade of service.

This December marks a significant milestone for AltaSource Group, our 10 year anniversary as a company. It’s be an amazing journey and I have been privileged to have been a part of a decade of success with AltaSource Group. I thought I’d share a few thoughts reflecting back on the last 10 years of our company.

AltaSource Group – Day 1:Surprise people with more than they expect!”

Our first “office” was in the banquet room of a closed restaurant in Kirkland WA. It was free and we were happy to be there. No heat, no air conditioning and no AltaSource Group sign (no money for a sign). I remember meeting 10 years ago excited by the opportunity to build something new, carrying boundless ideas on what we thought it meant to be a “great” service company and no idea how to build a “successful” service company. What will we need? How do we get started? Who will we become?

We decided to follow an “Agile” approach to get underway. All ideas for the company went on 3x5 cards to our “product backlog” board. Each week we reviewed cards, prioritized items, took tasks into our iteration and worked on what AltaSource would become. And over time AltaSource took shape… many of the ideas were never needed. Countless items we didn’t think important ended up a priority. By the end of 6 months we had completed our company vision, website, marketing plan, business plans, legal contracts, and most importantly we had our first big client. Humbly that company is still working with us today.

I still have the 3x5 cards we completed to launch the company 10 years ago. The image above is from that original deck, a card that I keep up in my office to remind me what we wanted to accomplish with AltaSource Group from day 1. “Surprise people with more than they expect!”

AltaSource Group - 3650 days of gratitude: A heartfelt “thank you” to all the ASG Alumni for helping make AltaSource Group what it is today!

I have been fortunate to have worked with some amazing people over the last 10 years. These individuals are passionate in their work and continually showed commitment to their profession. Their efforts contributed to AltaSource Group’s growth and helped us be recognized by INC Magazine (INC500/5000 2014, 2015, 2016), CIO Review (Top 20 U.S. Services Companies 2015, 2017, 2018), the PSBJ (fastest growing private companies in WA 2014, 2015, 2016), Best of Western Washington (2016) and numerous local business awards. Some amazing times with everyone attending the INC events, PSBJ events, company parties and of course our annual Seafair boating event!

There are some people that I expressly want to call out for their contributions. While no longer with the company they all have all been a part of AltaSource Group’s “firsts”; I want to thank Scott Craig, co-founder with me at AltaSource Group (all the way back to our “banquet room” days), Chris Bloomquist (our first Recruiter) Mark Gosney (my first Recruiting Manager) Jenny Counsel (my first Account Manager) and Pat Goodwin (our first CFO). Thank you all!

Other key team members over the years have been Andrienne Barker, Sterling Brown, Tyler Cassara, Margaret Chorlton, Stacy Emmons, Deanna Herderick, Lyheng Huot, Misha Linn, Brianne Makanani, Scott Mantei and Amirah Peracha.

AltaSource Group now – Day 3650: “We are a service company, and at our core is an unwavering commitment to serve our clients and employees.”

10 years after getting started we’re closing Q4 2019 on record quarterly revenue, and FY 2019 will be a record year for AltaSource Group. Our goal in 2019 was to produce elevated and repeatable outcomes from all of our services and I am pleased to say we delivered! In 2019 we continued to expand our verticals and our geographic regions with new clients all across the U.S. We have more people working on projects now than at any other time in the company.

A big thank you to my current internal team! I’m consistently impressed with your commitment to our company and the accomplishments you achieve. The opportunity to come into work each day with such a “rocking” group of professionals is a privilege! Brandon Pawliuk, Shelley Burtz, Evan McCoy, Heidi Mendes, Kristen Pena, Javier Lopez de Legar, Sara Furth and Kathy Frost. And a special “thank you” to Julie Moynihan… Julie has been an integral part of the company’s success from day 1. She knows more about what keeps AltaSource Group running day to day than I ever could.

None of this could happen without the skilled professionals we have working for our clients. Your drive, creative minds and constant professionalism has characterized what AltaSource Group has strived for from day 1.  We remain proudly committed to ensuring our customers and employees have the best experience possible with AltaSource Group. In 2020 we will continue to provide all our employees’ 100% company paid medical, dental and vision benefits, a company EAP, 401K, flex spending and paid sick leave. After 10 years and hundreds of employees our Glassdoor rating proudly remains at 4.8! That rating is a statement to the exceptional work performed the teams over the years.

AltaSource Group – day 3650 and beyond: We are AltaSource Group!”

After a decade of service we look forward to the coming years, excited by the opportunity to continue serving our customers and employees. We’ve seen 8 consecutive quarters of solid growth and we head into 2020 stronger than ever, planning our next opportunities. The trust and confidence that our partners place in our company is something we truly value.

Looking ahead into 2020 we are projecting continued strong growth and pushing the company to new heights! I’m truly thankful for all of our successes and look forward to everything we will accomplish in the coming years!

With sincere gratitude to everyone that has been a part of our journey. Thank you all!
